This is Kirksley’s Call to Action. To try and contribute in anyway.
My mother Dianne Wainwright lost everything but her mind for two and a half years thanks to the disease of ALS. This isn’t a story I’ve shared publicly, the only people that know the story are the ones that bared witness from the inside and even some of them don’t know the darkest place of it.
My mother was diagnosed with ALS on August 21st 2021 and passed away on January 3rd 2023. 25 days before my 26th birthday and 8 days after Christmas.
I watched my mother who was a teacher for 34 years and devout servant to the Lord spend her last days being served by the people around her as her body failed her. It was tragically beautiful to watch a woman that served without complaint and helped in every way she could, have that returned to her. It’s taken me three years to be able to see that the years my mother was sick was a living testimony.
A story of a women who had those four friends that would take a roof off to get her to Jesus’ feet to ask for her healing but in this case they were known well as the “Sexy Six” and she had so many more from her church group that would have been there. My mom was the calming presence in every room, she was the tenderness in the words of the literature she taught to her first and third grade students. Her favorite story to read them was Charlotte’s Web and if you’ve seen the movie or read the book she was just as encouraging, and helpful as Charolette was to Babe and even single word Charlotte used to describe Babe she was those too.
In remembrance of her we have named one of our wedding packages after her “The Annie”
